How many people can play?

Chained Beasts is a 1–4 player game: you can play alone or with up to three other players. Steam lists single-player, online co-op, local shared/split-screen co-op and Remote Play Together.

Is there crossplay?

The developer has announced crossplay across all launch platforms: Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Treat this as launch support; exact platform-pair setup, account linking and mixed local/online party rules are not specified here.

Controllers for couch co-op

On Windows Steam, at least one gamepad is required for same-screen co-op. Do not plan on using two keyboard-and-mouse setups based on the local co-op tag alone.

The UK Nintendo listing requires one compatible controller per player and lists 1–4 players on one system.

Console online requirements

Platform Online access requirement
PS5 PlayStation Plus
Xbox console Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate
Nintendo Switch (UK listing) Paid Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account; 2–4 online players

Game Pass online permission is different from access to the game itself. Day-one catalog availability is announced for Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Afflictions on a shared screen

Couch co-op excludes some afflictions that do not work with a shared screen, primarily visual ones. There is no complete exclusion list, so a particular launch affliction should not be assumed to be excluded.
